World Industries Mike Vallely Elephant on the Edge reissue decks, pin and stickers

In February 1989, at eighteen, Mike Vallely walked away from a ten-year contract with Powell Peralta to ride for Steve Rocco's brand-new World Industries. The board that came out of that leap was Elephant on the Edge, Mike's first graphic on World. It's back for Holiday 2026 in the original 9.75" shape and two popsicle sizes, and we have signed copies.

LONG BEACH, CALIF., FEBRUARY 1989—I walked out of a hotel lobby, out of a ten-year contract, out of the stability, security, and support of the best company and team in the industry, into the unknown to join up with Rocco and his upstart SMA World Industries.

The elephant had gone rogue.

Two months earlier I'd started dating Ann, admitting out loud that there was now something more important in my life than skateboarding, causing all of my friends to dissociate from me.
