Last week it was announced that Etnies Footwear and long time professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler were parting ways after a remarkable 27 years.

Sheckler joined the Etnies team when he was only 7 years old. When Etnies released the Sheckler Pro Model in 2006, Ryan was the youngest professional to design and receive a signature shoe.

Etnies was formed in 1986 in Lake Forest California and manufactures shoes for both skateboarders and BMX riders. In 2003 Etnies and the city of Lake Forest opened Etnies Skatepark or Lake Forest which is actually the largest skatepark in California. Etnies current professional ranks contains skaters Christ Joslin, Fabian Delfino, Jake Wooten, Andy Anderson, and Aurelien Giraud.

Ryan Sheckler has had a long storied professional skateboarding career. He had multiple sponsors before turning 10 and was the youngest X Games gold medal winner when he won Park Gold in 2003 at the age of 13. It was the first of his 7 X Games medals.
