- Product Description: Long, long before Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) there existed actual pulp fiction upon which said film was based. Now, what in tarnation does that musty genre have to do with all the Astros in Houston? Well, nothing really, because that comparison makes no sense whatsoever. It's an illustration thing, son, follow along now, c'mon, keep up, forget the baseball for now, because while the pulps may have had some real ham-fisted galoots banging out the manly tales of adventure and intrigue on a typewriter, they had some A-One certified maestros of the pen providing the fantastic drawings to fill in the imaginary gaps of readers. So, when some sweaty drunk in a low-rent hotel room hammered out "gigantic worm in a cave" on his Smith-Corona, that's where an artist like Tyler Pennington would come in to save the pulp day. Case in point. —Cliver
