Welcome is proud to announce our official collaboration with the legendary Nine Inch Nails, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their seminal album, The Downward Spiral. Originally released on March 8, 1994, The Downward Spiral was instrumental in bringing industrial music to the masses, is one of the most influential records of all time, and as such has sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide. NIN has inspired countless fans around the world for decades, including many of us in the Welcome office. This is a project we have so much passion for, and we worked closely with the NIN team to ensure the collection felt authentic to the band, while still bringing something new to the table that their devoted fans had not seen before. In doing so we used a mix of visuals from the NIN archive, such as original album art, graphics, TDS era-specific typefaces, and photos by Joseph Cultice - including some from their iconic Woodstock ‘94 set. We then mashed them up with brand new illustrations inspired by NIN imagery and lyrics. The result is a truly collaborative offering that both sides are excited to share with you.
Today is the official release of the Welcome x Nine Inch Nails collaboration. The Dark Slide is pleased to offer a number of articles from this collaboration on our website.
